How we handle your data
What we store
- From your Google account: your email address, name and account identifier, received when you sign in. We have no access to your password or to any other Google data.
- From the game: your pilot name, your ranking score (Elo), your number of matches, wins and losses, and the history of each match (opponent, ship, kills, deaths, damage, duration and result).
- Match replays: a recording of what each player saw during an online match (ship positions, shots and pilot names), kept for 14 days and then deleted.
- Feedback you send in the short questionnaire after your first match (your answers, an optional comment and that match's stats) and a log of connections to the server (date and time), so we know how many people are playing.
- Country: for connections to the online game, the matches you play and visits to the training page, we keep the country you connect from (a two-letter code such as PT), as reported by Cloudflare. We never store your IP address, and your country is not shown on your profile or in your match history. It is used only for overall counts per country, to know where players come from.
- Anonymous training statistics: on the training page (play against bots) we count, without any account, IP address or cookie, where the visit came from (for example Reddit or a search engine), whether you use a computer or a phone, how long the game took to load, the matches you start and how they end (map, ship, difficulty, result, duration and frames per second) and any errors that stop the game. Kept for 90 days, to find problems and improve the game.
What is public
Your pilot name, Elo, rank and match history are shown in the leaderboard and on your public profile page (orbitalconflict.org/profile/your name), which anyone can open without an account. Anyone with the link to a replay can watch it. Your email is never shown.
What we use it for, and why we may
| Use | Data | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Signing you in and running your account, matches and ranking | Google account details, game data, replays | Providing the service you asked for |
| Improving the game and finding problems | Feedback, connection log, country, anonymous training statistics | Our legitimate interest in a game that works |
| Keeping the game fair and secure | Game data, server logs | Our legitimate interest, and yours, in fair play |
We do not sell your data, share it for advertising or use it to profile you.
Cookies and browser storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. The game keeps a few things in your browser's local storage: your sign-in session, your guest name, chosen ship, last training map, settings and, during a match, a key to rejoin it if the connection drops.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase: database and sign-in, in the European Union (Ireland).
- Google: sign in with Google.
- Cloudflare: delivers the website and protects it from attacks; it handles your IP address to do so.
- Grafana Cloud: server metrics and error logs, without IP addresses (only a scrambled tag used to limit abuse).
How long we keep it
Your account and match history: while your account exists. Replays: 14 days. Anonymous training statistics: 90 days. Feedback and the connection log: as long as they are useful to improve the game.
Your rights
You can ask to view, correct, export or delete your data, including your entire account, through the feedback form at the end of any match. Deleting your account removes your profile and ranking; past matches become anonymous. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version; important changes will be announced in the game.
